Association of Black Correctional Workers®

The Association of Black Correctional Workers is dedicated to promoting an awareness of the value, contributions and potential of the Black Correctional Worker and allied professionals in the criminal justice system.

To provide and maintain this awareness, the Association of Black Correctional Workers has established the following objectives:

To provide a forum through which Black Correctional Workers and allied criminal justice practitioners can exchange ideas, offer services and develop training programs which will benefit members within the criminal justice system.

To serve as a strong, visible advocate for the recognition of members and their contributions.

To create an atmosphere within the system where programs that advance equal employment opportunities are welcomed contributions.

To affect positive changes in training and promotional policies within the criminal justice system.

To maintain open channels of communication with local and state legislators for the purpose of advancing the interests of the membership.

To meet with Directors of the California Department of Corrections and the California Youth Authority on an ongoing basis to maintain open communication.

To monitor and act in a consulting capacity with legislators on criminal justice legislation and with the Senate Rules Committee on confirmations.

To promote regional and state-wide community involvement.
